Soup season is my favorite season. But most soups leave me hungry an hour later because they’re basically broth and noodles.
As a Precision Nutrition coach and a mom feeding four hungry boys, I want dinners that actually fill everyone up. Protein is the key. It keeps you full longer, helps you hold on to muscle and keeps blood sugar steady, so you’re not raiding the pantry at 9 p.m.
So I rounded up 21 of the best healthy high protein soup recipes from some of my favorite food bloggers. Every one has at least 20 grams of protein per serving, and most are easy enough for a weeknight. Click any recipe name to get the full recipe from its creator.

How to Make Any Soup Higher in Protein
- Start with a lean protein base. Chicken breast, ground turkey, lean beef or shrimp add 25 to 35 grams per serving.
- Add beans or lentils. One cup of lentils has about 18 grams of protein, plus fiber that keeps you full.
- Swap regular broth for bone broth. It has around 9 to 10 grams of protein per cup, compared with 1 to 2 grams in regular broth.
- Stir in Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. Blend it into creamy soups instead of heavy cream for a protein boost and the same silky texture.
- Use protein pasta. Chickpea or lentil pasta has about twice the protein of regular pasta.
- Top it smart. Parmesan, an egg, hemp seeds or a dollop of Greek yogurt adds a few extra grams.

What soup has the most protein? Soups made with chicken, turkey or lean beef plus beans or lentils have the most. On this list, the broccoli cheddar soup with cottage cheese (46g) and the chicken pot pie soup (42g) are the highest.
Are high protein soups good for weight loss? They can help. Protein and fiber keep you full longer, and most of these soups are under 500 calories per bowl.
Can I freeze these soups? Most broth-based soups, chilis and lentil soups freeze well for up to 3 months. Creamy and dairy-based soups can separate a little when thawed, so stir well while reheating.
